This game is an absolute must have, not at all like the previous Call of Duty games (regardless of the fact that it's not in a WWII setting). I'm about half way through the single player portion and so far it's been very entertaining, fast paced, and engrossing.
But the best part about this game is the multi-player portion. This game is absolutely gorgeous, and because of that it is very demanding on your computer if you have the settings on high like I do. However, if you do have the specs, you've gotta check it out. The maps are amazing, and the action is incredibly realistic and commences at a furious pace. I really can't express how impressed I've been, this game is quickly vying for my attention and is one of my immediate favorites.
But no worries, nothing will come between me and DoD:S...except maybe Crysis or Assassin's Creed when it comes out on the PC ;D.

Well, I have to run on 800x600 to have smooth frames, so yours would probably run pretty well.

I need to get a second graphics card to run this smoother...and another pair of matched 1GB RAM (2GB total) for optimum perfromance.
My son just bought this game over Christmas with a gift card we got him and it is pretty bad ass. I like it, we will have to hook up a COD4 night sometime. As it stands now, it runs nice, in the story mode, we get a little bit of stutter during the intro of each mission but when in the game it runs great.

I need to get a second graphics card to run this smoother...and another pair of matched 1GB RAM (2GB total) for optimum perfromance. One thing to keep in mind though. If you already have 2GB of RAM and plan on going up to 4GB then you've got to have a true 64-bit Operating System (which in turn requires a true 64-bit processor and compatible motherboard; AMD has numerous models and most Intel Core2 Duo's would be more than sufficient). The most that a 32-bit system can recognize, let alone utilize properly, is 3-3.5 GB (depending on your motherboard). If you do go up to 4GB of RAM and use a normal 32-bit version of Windows, several system conflicts can possibly arise (especially some 32-bit drivers go crazy sometimes). So if you're not planning on getting a new OS upgrade, expand your system RAM to 3GB tops.

I have an ATI Sapphire X1950 with 512 MB RAM DDR3. It runs COD4 no problem in 1680 X 1050. Now I run XP Pro with 2Gb RAM and since RAM was cheap I bumped it up to 4Gb. Now I know I don't get a full 4 GB out of it (like Line says), but it still made a difference.

^ No lie, one of the greatest parts of the game. And Mist, fucking get back in the country already! Yeah i agree with Mist & 2 that controling the the guns of the 130 Specter is fantstic fun blowing the hell out of the ground troops and trucks is fucking Fun though pissed off I couldnt blow any building up like the church Also love the cinematic feel to the whole game as with the 8800GT Ive now got in my machine this game rocks !!! fantastic visuals and sounds If this is even an tenth of what it might be like in the middle east then I am enternally grateful that this will be the closest I will get to experincing a battlefield You Know I was pissed of when my Marine character died in that Nuke explosion after all that he went though and saving that damn female chopper pliot from her crashed chopper to get killed by that sodding nuke isnt fair!! Through have to admit that was one hell of a fantastic visual of all the choppers getting blown apart by the nuke! Okay done with my rant for the moment P/s are those folks who are playing muliplayer having any issues with Punk as it kicked me out the 3 times I tried to play onlin after a m in with some weird error message And are we using our Alcove Tags in COD4 then ? Hey Madmax. I bought COD4 through Steam and I had trouble with PB kicking me too. I went to www.punkbuster.com/index.php?page=dl-cod4.php and downloaded the latest version and ran the installer. Now I can't remember the exact steps but the first time I ran the installer it didn't seem to work. I then made sure I had quite Steam and COD4, did an uninstall, then re-install and then everything was golden. Cheers, Crane
