I don't know how many alcovians are football fans, but I think we needed a thread.
I'll start with saying UCF beat NC State (linebacker plays for them) 25-23. I'm a UCF student, which is why I bring it up. Sorry LB, but you guys got run over by Kevin Smith. U C F lets GOOOO Knights!
And Michigan got whooped on by 1-AA Appalachian State, dropping them out of the top 25. Good stuff there.

Since I took a year off from school to work and take care of shit at home I have to wait out a year before I regain my full college eligibility under some BS NCAA divI rules. I'm playing semi-pro football right now with the Carolina Falcons to stay in football shape before I come back next season. But yeah, UCF ran all over and around my boys this weekend, but they stepped it up in the second half, I think they limited them to only 38 total offensive yards after halftime. Plus one of my best friends Tony Baker, is out for the season too, but Andre is a beast and Eugene is sick, so we're still good at tailback, and I like the change to Beck at QB, we'll get better as the season goes along. Oh, and I know several guys who play for App, they've been a very good football team for a while now. I can't say I was entirely surprised that they won, I knew that they would put up a hell of a fight even before the opening kickoff. Just because you play for a smaller school doesn't mean you can't be the better team, and besides, Michigan was overrated from the get-go. The only real good, consistent player Michigan has back is Hart.

Yeah, Michigan was overrated. Now they aren't though, because they fell out of the top 25 I'm also a huge Cane fan, and I really hope all the "no chance" talk the media is putting out there about the game against Oklahoma really comes back to bite them in the ass, like it did in 2005 when Miami destroyed #3 ranked Virginia Tech at Blacksburg. 'Lotta good football coming up. I love September.

Florida State 4 life!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You best hide your face, considering how they played against Clemson on Monday. Drew Weatherford = the next Chris Rix. You know, where he gives the ball the ole heave hoe to the endzone for an interception. PS I hate FSU. Go Canes/Knights!

Well, NC State is still working through growing pains of a new system, but overall it's the same old story. Turnovers are killing us. Overall though, I'm very pleased with how things are looking, our offense is looking much better (sans the whole turnover factor...we definitely need to put a stop to that) but they still have a long way to go. Our defense did an outstanding job considering they had their backs to the wall the whole game, and we were missing our two starting D-tackles. Constantly working with a short field and simply getting tired from being on the field for too damn long they did alright, need to do better against the run, there was no excuse for that big touchdown run they gave to Callender late in the game. But such is the way of a rebuilding season...
Speaking of which, Miami's in the same boat. I was thinking there was the potential for an upset but Oklahoma straight spanked them U-boys this week. Oklahoma is a lot better than I thought they were this year, especially since they lost a lot of talent, and it's a good thing they have an improved passing game to balance the fact that Adrian Petterson is a Sooner no mo'.
Can't wait for the VT vs LSU game tonight though, that's gonna be a great game...

I guess they did, just not in a good way. The VT - LSU game was also a blowout; the ACC is downright awful yet again. FSU, Miami, and VT are supposed to be at the top of the conference, but they're all struggling. Is it too late to move back to the Big East?

Is it too late to move back to the Big East? Moving to the Big East won't fix Miami's problems, lol. Miami has yet to win the ACC championship anyway, despite how weak the conference has been this season and last. Besides, there's a lot of young talent in the ACC, they just need to gain experience. The ACC has had 14-20+ players taken in the first round of the NFL draft alone for the past three straight years. That's an astounding amount, and it's only natural that the conference is gonna have some weak seasons as that void begins to fill back up. Wake Forest got robbed though against ranked Nebraska, that was clearly pass interference on that last attempt. And yeah, VT is overranked yet again, just like FSU, which in my opinion hasn't been good in at least 3 seasons. Oh well, at least my Carolina Panthers won tonight...

Well, my Carolina Panthers pulled it out against the Saints even though we had to do it with our 2nd and 3rd string QB's. Still, Jon Beason is a beast, if we'd have moved him to middle linebacker last week in place of Dan Morgan (who's injured) we'd have beat the Bucs...but what's done is done. But man, what a weekend of football, especially in the college scene. LSU vs Florida was a battle, UNC beat Miami (sorry Sani, you're boys still have a lot of work to do) and FSU beat my NC State wolfpack. And we lost my friend Andre Brown for the season along with Tony Baker from the first game. That leaves our third string RB Jamelle Eugene, who's a freak but still, this season's been rough for us with a new coaching staff and injuries on both sides of the ball. This has been a good year for football so far, it'll get better when the Panthers knock the Cowboys out of the playoffs again like we did on our way to the Super Bowl in 03'.

Damn Demonseed..damn...your Boys pulled one out in spite of Tony Romo. 5 INTs and a fumble lost, 4 of those picks came in the first half alone, must have been painful. Still, that was an amazing Monday Night football game, and my hats off to the Bills, they played like fuckin warriors tonight (especially that defense), in spite of all the injuries and tragedies they've been through already. I've played on several really, really good defenses and we'd have games where we'd have a hall of fame like night and still lose because of missed opportunities by the offense or special teams or due to guys getting tired late in the game because they've been on the field too long. Still, hell of a game, and the Cowboys are still undefeated...

Was this Brady's portfolio for trying out for one of the roles in Brokeback Mountain? and wtf is with the goat, good choice Tom...and sorry Airborne if you had Romo as your starting QB this week. 4picks alone in the first half...ouch

Yeah, what a game...that will go down as one of the best MNF's in a long time!! I hope Romo thanks that defense for stepping up and allowing the offense to make a come back in the end. I was so worked up after the game I couldn't get to sleep for over an hour of just lying in bed, replaying the game in my head. 101, you are correct sir, that man has a leg and an ice cold attitude. What the fuck was up with all the shitty calls against the boys last night, were they trying to make us lose?
1) TO forced out and no referee seemed to even dispute a force out, then Wade Phillips didn't throw the challenge flag. 2) Pass Interference on T.O. while catching that 2 pt attempt, defender never looked at the ball but mauled TO anyway. 3) How many times must McBriar get run over while kicking before a flag is thrown, it appears three, maybe if it would have been a fourth time, the officials might have called it. 4) Ok, here's a good one, TO clearly spiking the ball.....WTF?? 5) No matter if the other team or the booth challenges, they have to do it BEFORE the snap (i.e. next play) or it doesn't count...how the FUCK did the head honcho's officiate that call and still challenge it??
